How to find us

NAISA is pleased to launch its new space in South River, ON in June 2017 – the NAISA North Media Arts Centre.

“NAISA is the acronym for New Adventures in Sound Art. Undertaking new adventures in sound and media art has been a focus for us for the past 16 years during which we have challenged artists and audiences alike in Toronto with alternative ways of listening and presenting sound. This quest for new sonic adventures brings us to a new chapter with our move to South River, which places us in a new sonic environment with access to new sounds and new sources of knowledge about the environment. We hope that the artists we work with and present from this point forward will grow as much as we anticipate growing in the years ahead. South River is not just NAISA North but NAISA New.”—Darren Copeland, Artistic Director, New Adventures in Sound Art

Located in the centre of the village of South River, a short distance from Algonquin Park, at the building formerly known as Renée’s Café and Bean There Café, NAISA staff and board of directors are excited at the possibilities available. As well as a large exhibition space, NAISA North also includes a small café, a community gallery and workshop space, as well as a space suitable for media art production/creation.

The bulk of NAISA’s artistic programming will be held in South River, but other off-site programming is still happening across Ontario in partnerships with various art galleries, cultural centres and other institutions.
