How to find us

It is with much regret that we had to move out of the Artscape Wychwood Barns as of October 31, 2015, after seven years. The relationships and networking with artists and arts organizations that NAISA has fostered at the Barns over the last seven years, has been rewarding and ongoing as is the support from the community via their attendance to our exhibitions and concerts.

In the first year that NAISA operated in the Barns, we had to sound proof like crazy, as little attention was given in the building design and construction to the transfer of sound waves from one unit to another and from the Covered Street to the adjacent units on either side of it. From holes in the wall, to no caulking around the steel trusses where they met the drywall, to holes that still exist in the window frame onto the Covered Street – the sounds just drifted in. Sound Art is best appreciated when the full dynamic range of a performance can be appreciated without interference from other sounds.

After having far too many of NAISA’s concerts compromised by events in the Covered Street, NAISA’s staff and its board of directors decided to leave the Barns in order to find a more appropriate venue for its gallery exhibitions and concerts – A space where art can be given a proper context and support.

As of November 1st, NAISA has temporarily located its administrative office and NAISA Radio to Charles Street Video (CSV) whose partnerships with NAISA date as far back as its early co-productions with CSV and CBC’s Outfront in 2003. CSV is currently located at the ground level of 568 Richmond Street West (Queen & Spadina), in the heart of the artistic West Queen West neighbourhood. NAISA’s workshops and small events will also take place in this location.  Detailed contact information, including NAISA’s new mailing address, can be found here.
