Artists Bios – Nothing (Repeated)

Christof Migone’s work and research delves into language & voice, bodies & performance, intimacy & complicity, sound & silence, rhythmics & kinetics, translation & referentiality, stillness & imperceptibility, structure & improvisation, play & pathos, pedagogy & unlearning, failure & endurance. His ongoing investigations include microphone hitting, book flipping, tongue extruding, record releasing, word hyphenating, para-pedagogical positioning, careless curating, noise making, sequitur following, paper passing, interval counting, rhythm repeating, phone licking, machine fingering, playlist compiling, silence listening.
Steve Bates is an artist, musician, and occasional curator living in Montréal. The sonic is the starting point for his projects which are evocations of communication networks and systems, or expressions of spatial and temporal experience.
crys cole is a Canadian sound artist working in performance and installations. Active listening is the fundamental core of her practice. By generating subtle and imperfect sounds through simple purposeful gestures, she creates textural works that retune the ear, revealing the intricacy of seemingly mundane sounds and sources.
Peter Courtemanche is a contemporary sound and installation artist from Vancouver. He creates radio, installations, network projects, performances, curatorial projects, and handmade CD editions. He likes to work with "gadgetry" - custom turntables, lamp filaments, wire coils, high voltage ionizers, magnetic transmitters and receivers.
Douglas Moffat mixes field recordings, electro-acoustics and landscape architecture to imagine, propose and build space for listening. He lives in Montreal, Quebec.
jake moore is an intermedia artist, educator, and exhibition maker. She works with any medium necessary to produce intricate yet minimal site installation with a particular fascination for the material nature of media and the communicative potential of material. She considers her primary medium to be space and its occupation.
Marc-Alexandre Reinhardt studies, writes and performs in Montreal. He will be finishing the final chapter of his thesis before and after the performance at NAISA. He is currently developing a sound-based ethnographical research project on taxi subculture and plays in a band called Lanterner.
Erin Sexton is a Canadian artist who works in sound, performance and installation. Based in Montreal, she builds electronics, grows crystals, amplifies architecture and sonifies the æther.
