Artists Bios – Radio with Everything at Hand

Peter Courtemanche (http://absolutevalueofnoise.ca) is a sound and installation artist from Vancouver. He creates radio, installations, network projects, performances, curatorial projects, and handmade CD editions. He was media director at the Western Front from 1997 to 2007. He has curated many radio and audio art projects including the first episode of "24 Hours of Radio/ART" in 1992, subsequent editions of 24 Hours (1993, 94, and 96), "Silence Descends" a collaborative CD project in 1999, "Reverie: noise city" (a virtual city of sound art on the Internet, 2005), and "An Audio Gallery" (a series of six audio installations shown at Lucky's bookstore and gallery, June - December 2012). He has published essays on audio and telecommunications art in Canada and Europe.
Anna Friz (http://nicelittlestatic.com) is a Canadian sound and radio artist who specializes in multi-channel transmission systems for installation, performance, and broadcast. She also creates dynamic, atmospheric compositions for theatre, dance, film, and solo performance equally able to reflect upon public media culture or to reveal expressive interior landscapes. Anna holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Culture from York University, Toronto, and recently completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Sound Department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has performed and exhibited widely across North America, South America, and Europe, and her radio art/works have been heard on the airwaves of more than 25 countries. She is a steering member of the artist collective Skálar | Sound Art | Experimental Music based in Iceland and Berlin. Anna was instrumental in producing the fifth edition of "24 Hours of Radio Art" on CITR FM in 1999.

Bill Mullan is a Vancouver based writer, radio DJ (and producer). His past media adventures include magazine publishing (and editing), a few thousand hours of radio programming (CBC-2, campus and community), various screenplays, film and video productions, and, of course, non-stop sonic explorations. He also drove cab for a while. Randophonic is his current radio show (airing weekly c/o of UBC's CiTR.FM.101.9). In November 2013, he received his MFA diploma from UBC's Creative Writing program for Superlative Noise, a work of "sonic fiction".
